History of Columbus Auto Body Works:
For 85 years, people in the greater New Haven area have discovered Columbus Auto Body by accident, but what they have really discovered is a family-owned automotive mainstay that is committed to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction and top-notch quality automotive repair and care. Columbus Auto Body was founded in 1928 by Vincenzo DiLauro, an Italian immigrant who settled in the Columbus Avenue neighborhood of New Haven. Vincenzo combined his fine mechanic skills and the opportunities he saw with the booming automobile industry and started his very own auto-repair shop.
Today, Columbus Auto Body, still standing on the original site, is owned and operated by the third and fourth generations of the DiLauro family: grandsons Vincent, President, and Anthony, Vice President, granddaughter-in-law Mary Ellen, Comptroller, and great granddaughter Jennifer, Towing Operations Manager. While Columbus Auto Body has seen some changes over the last 80 years, what has never changed and has always been the driving force behind our company is the commitment to satisfying our customers. Columbus Auto Body is committed to doing everything possible to create the best automotive repair experience. To achieve this, Columbus Auto Body uses the finest equipment, supplies, and materials, and our technicians are certified and participate in continuous training programs to keep up-to-date with the latest in the automotive world.
